Enerpac B Series air hydraulic boosters convert compressed-air input into higher-pressure hydraulic output for industrial cylinders, clamps and other hydraulic devices. The B Series uses a one-shot, spring-return design for applications requiring repeatable hydraulic pressure from an available compressed-air supply.
Enerpac B Series models include the B3006 and B5003 hydraulic boosters. These models provide different pressure intensification ratios and hydraulic oil output per stroke, allowing the booster to be matched to the pressure and oil-volume requirements of the hydraulic circuit.
How an Enerpac B Series Hydraulic Booster Works
Compressed air acts on the booster's large air piston, driving a smaller hydraulic plunger. The difference between the effective area of the air piston and hydraulic plunger increases the hydraulic pressure produced at the outlet.
After the hydraulic stroke is completed, the B Series spring-return mechanism returns the piston for the next operating cycle.
Enerpac B3006 Hydraulic Booster
The Enerpac B3006 uses a 30:1 pressure intensification ratio. At 100 psi input air pressure, Enerpac specifies approximately 3,000 psi hydraulic output pressure. Maximum hydraulic pressure is 3,750 psi.
The B3006 provides approximately 6.2 in³ of hydraulic oil output per stroke.
Enerpac B5003 Hydraulic Booster
The Enerpac B5003 uses a 50:1 pressure intensification ratio. At 100 psi input air pressure, Enerpac specifies approximately 5,000 psi hydraulic output pressure. Maximum hydraulic pressure is 6,250 psi.
The B5003 provides approximately 3.7 in³ of hydraulic oil output per stroke.
Built-In Stroke Sensor for Automated Operation
Enerpac B Series boosters incorporate a built-in stroke sensor to support automatic cycle operation. The 30 VDC switch closes approximately one inch before the end of the full air-piston stroke.
This allows the booster to be integrated into automated production systems where piston position must be detected as part of the machine cycle.
Internal Self-Bleeding Design
B Series boosters incorporate internal self-bleeding. Enerpac specifies that the system automatically purges air when the booster piston is positioned at the highest point in the hydraulic circuit.
Proper installation and orientation remain important when integrating the booster with the rest of the hydraulic system.
Choosing Between the B3006 and B5003
The B3006 provides greater hydraulic oil volume per stroke at a lower pressure intensification ratio, while the B5003 provides greater hydraulic pressure with lower oil delivery per stroke.
Choose between them according to the hydraulic pressure and oil-volume requirements of the connected cylinder, clamp or other hydraulic device.
B Series vs. AHB Series Hydraulic Boosters
Enerpac B Series and AHB Series boosters both use compressed air to generate hydraulic pressure, but their operating designs differ. B Series boosters use one-shot spring-return operation and incorporate a built-in stroke sensor and internal self-bleeding system.
