Enerpac long stroke hydraulic cylinders are designed for industrial lifting, pushing, pulling, positioning, and maintenance applications that require more travel than a conventional hydraulic cylinder can provide. This collection features Enerpac RR Series double-acting cylinders with hydraulic advance and return for controlled movement throughout the operating cycle.
RR Series cylinders combine extended stroke capability with heavy-duty steel construction, making them well suited for demanding industrial, maintenance, construction, and machinery applications where substantial force and longer cylinder travel are required.
Enerpac RR Series Long Stroke Cylinders
Enerpac RR Series cylinders are double acting, meaning hydraulic pressure is used for both extension and retraction. Powered return provides positive control of the piston in both directions and can help improve operating speed and control in applications requiring repeated movement or where gravity cannot reliably return the cylinder.
The RR Series is available in multiple capacities and stroke lengths, allowing the cylinder to be selected based on the required force, available installation space, and total travel needed for the application.
When to Use a Long Stroke Hydraulic Cylinder
A long stroke cylinder is appropriate when the application requires substantial linear movement from a single hydraulic cylinder setup. Typical applications can include machinery positioning, structural movement, maintenance, fabrication, equipment installation, pushing, pulling, and other industrial operations requiring extended travel.
Using a cylinder with sufficient stroke can reduce the need to repeatedly reposition the cylinder or load during the job. However, the cylinder must still be properly supported and selected based on load, stroke, setup geometry, and the complete hydraulic system.
Choosing an Enerpac Long Stroke Cylinder
Start by determining the maximum force required during the operation, then select a cylinder with adequate rated capacity. Next, determine the total stroke needed to complete the movement without unnecessary repositioning.
Collapsed height is also important. A longer-stroke cylinder typically requires more installation space, so verify that the cylinder will fit within the available area before operation begins.
Because RR Series cylinders are double acting, the hydraulic system must provide oil flow to both sides of the piston. Confirm that the pump, control valve, hoses, couplers, gauges, and related components are compatible with double-acting operation and the cylinder's oil-volume requirements.
Long Stroke vs. Telescoping Hydraulic Cylinders
Long stroke and telescoping cylinders both provide increased travel, but they solve different installation problems.
Long stroke cylinders such as the Enerpac RR Series use a conventional single-stage piston with an extended stroke. They are a strong choice when enough collapsed-height space is available and controlled double-acting operation is required.
Telescoping hydraulic cylinders use multiple stages to provide increased travel from a shorter collapsed height. They are better suited when the application requires substantial stroke but available starting space is restricted.
