Enerpac workholding pull cylinders are designed for manufacturing, fixturing, clamping, positioning, and assembly applications where hydraulic force needs to pull a component toward the cylinder rather than push it away. Their compact configurations make them well suited for integration into production fixtures and machine tooling.
This collection includes Enerpac PU and PT Series pull cylinders with different mounting configurations to accommodate a variety of workholding and fixture designs.
Enerpac Workholding Pull Cylinder Series
- PU Series Pull Cylinders: Upper-flange-mounted pull cylinders designed for straightforward fixture installation. PU Series cylinders can accommodate manifold or threaded hydraulic connections and are secured using mounting bolts.
- PT Series Pull Cylinders: Threaded-body pull cylinders that can be installed directly into a fixture. The threaded body allows precise cylinder positioning within the tooling and provides a compact mounting arrangement.
How Workholding Pull Cylinders Work
A pull cylinder applies hydraulic force by retracting the piston and drawing the connected component toward the cylinder. This makes pull cylinders useful for applications where components need to be clamped, tensioned, positioned, or drawn into a fixture during a manufacturing or assembly process.
Depending on the model, Enerpac workholding pull cylinders are available in single-acting and double-acting configurations. Single-acting models use hydraulic pressure for the working stroke and a spring for return, while double-acting designs use hydraulic pressure in both directions for greater control over the operating cycle.
Choosing a Workholding Pull Cylinder
Start by determining the required pulling force and stroke, then evaluate the available mounting space and preferred mounting method. The mounting arrangement is especially important because these cylinders are typically integrated directly into the fixture or machine.
Choose a PU Series cylinder when an upper-flange mounting arrangement works best for the fixture. Choose a PT Series cylinder when a threaded-body design is preferred for direct installation and precise cylinder positioning.
Also verify the cylinder dimensions, hydraulic connection, operating pressure, mounting requirements, and available clearance before selecting a model.
